Protein Shake Recipes – Examples and Tips
A protein shake or a protein packed snack is the best way to really get the most benefit from a workout. You can also use one of these protein shake recipes to kick start your morning, give you the necessary fuel to get the most from your workout or help you to a faster post workout recovery.
This is one of the great protein shake recipes which can help to kick-start the day for the whole family;
16 ounces of orange juice, freshly squeezed of course
2 scoops of whey protein powder (vanilla) or alternatively egg white powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Around ¼ cup of low fat Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon of ground flax seed – this is optional, don’t worry if you don’t have any
1 tablespoon of lecithin – again, optional, ditto the flax seed
Mix for around 30 seconds in a blender and enjoy your “wake me up” protein shake.
12 ounces of freshly squeezed orange juice
1 scoop of whey protein isolate
A handful of whatever fruit is lurking in the fridge, add as much as you like
Around a half dozen ice cubes
Again a 30 second in a blender is all it takes for this delicious protein shake to be ready to drink.
And another idea . . .
Vanilla almond milk makes a great base for a protein shake – unsweetened – you’ll need around 1 cup
1 frozen banana – it’s always a good idea to peel the banana before you pop it into the freezer
half cup of frozen blueberries
1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
Blend for 30 seconds and enjoy
Pre-workout protein shake recipes are a good way to boost your energy level for your workout and to add nutrients to your body that it will need for recovery.
Here is a very quick tip about protein shake recipes which are great for immediately after a game or a workout;
Pop a couple of scoops of whey protein isolate into an empty water bottle before you go. Immediately after your game or workout add water and give it a good shake for around 30 seconds.
